Orange Juice Smoothie
The classic “Orange Julius” drink originated in Los Angeles in the 1920s. Here’s a version that brings together frozen banana, fresh orange juice, your choice of milk or yogurt, and a little vanilla for a sweet, refreshing flavor.
INGREDIENTS
- 1 cup fresh orange juice (4 medium oranges)
- 1 frozen banana
- ¼ cup plant-based milk (or yogurt)
- ¼ teaspoon vanilla extract
DIRECTIONS
- Peel oranges and juice.
- Add juice to a blender with banana, milk, and vanilla.
- Blend until smooth, about 45-60 seconds, and enjoy!
Recipe Tips:
Use Greek yogurt to add about 7 grams of protein to this smoothie (equivalent to one egg) or to keep it vegan and creamy with coconut milk or yogurt.
Make it green by adding a handful of spinach or frozen zucchini.
Try juicing tangerines, clementines, or satsuma for an even sweeter taste.
