Staying Balanced and Vibrant During the Holidays

Can you celebrate fully and feel your best? We asked friends in our Nama community how they’re doing just that—keeping the warmth, joy, and tradition alive while staying centered and nourished. From crowd-pleasing mocktails to energizing morning juices, they share how to balance out the holiday season with health, happiness, and flavor.

    let’s start with festive drinks

“I always make sure to have yummy mocktails and bases for those who drink and those who don’t, so they can enjoy a mocktail or cocktail without feeling left out or asked why they aren’t drinking.”

    JEANETTE VELASCO SHANE

“Something seasonal like pomegranate, cranberry, pear, and ginger with a rosemary sprig feels festive and refreshing, while also supporting digestion and energy during the holidays. It’s my favorite way to bring color and wellness to the table. You can even turn it into a mocktail by adding a splash of bubbly water or ginger beer to make it feel a little fancier.”

The key to maintaining wellness during the hectic holiday season? Prep ahead with these tips. Jeanette’s strategy includes adding juice to her lunch, especially one with ginger and turmeric to avoid getting sick and keeping a large tumbler or water bottle that holds 32 ounces or more, making sure to finish it by a certain time. Ivonka likes to batch juice and keep a few bottles ready in the fridge, so staying hydrated and energized doesn't require overthinking.

“Around the holidays, I love making my Ginger Wellness Shots with cranberry, apple, orange, and fresh ginger. They’re tangy, refreshing, and a simple way to give your body a natural immune boost during cold and flu season.”

“I love making anything cinnamon year-round, especially during the holidays. Baked goods, beverages—especially in hot chocolate—which is why I love Mexican hot chocolate that has all the cinnamon notes in it. I add Cinnamon Cashew Milk to my favorite beverages like chai, London fogs, and matcha to give it a nice, cozy, creamy flavor—perfect for the holidays.”

give the gift that keeps on giving

Ivonka's favorite homemade gift is wellness shots. She says they are quick to make, full of goodness, and a simple way to show how much you care.

When your schedule gets overwhelming or you’ve had one too many late nights, juice can be the ultimate recovery tool.

“I like to keep my recovery strategy simple: less food, more juice, and more water after stressful events. My post-holiday practice includes a five-day juice fast to feel grounded again.”

    holiday balance–during and after

After the holidays, our community finds balance through simple routines yet still make sure to embrace the joy of the season without overthinking it.

“More juice, more sweat, less indulgence.”

    –IVONKA

“After the holidays, I do a partial juice cleanse and replace my lunches with green juice all week.”

    –JEANETTE

“We don’t need to be the ‘food police’ during the holidays. My philosophy embraces the 80/20 rule—the holidays are about spending a little more time in the twenty-percent zone.”

    –JOE

The beauty of these approaches is that they're not about deprivation or sacrifice. They're about finding ways to feel vibrant and energized so you can fully enjoy the magic of the season. Prioritizing your wellness during a busy time of year helps you show up as your best self for the people and moments that matter most.
